John Stennick

2018 Grand Marshal

The Grand Marshall of Rainier Days in the Park celebration for 2018 is long time Rainier area resident, John Stennick. John attended Hudson Grade School and graduated from Rainier Union High School in 1957. He is seventy-nine years old. He has been married to his wife Nina for 53 years. They had three children; one has since passed away. John joined the United States Marine Corps in 1962. He retired in 1992 as a Colonel after receiving the Bronze Star and the Purple Heart. After retiring from the Marines, John was in the real estate business in Rainier for twenty years. John was instrumental in managing the All-School Alumni Picnic held at Hudson-Parcher Park for many years until turning it over to the Rainier Oregon Historical Museum this year. Rainier, Oregon, is proud to have such a distinguished member of the community be chosen as its Grand Marshall.

Congratulations, John!
